Cutting / Trimming

Our Die-Cutting Department is set up to cut Steel Rule dies as well as Thermal dies. We are able to die-cut, kiss-cut, thermal cut, or score in this department. If you are not aware of the terms associated with this department, here some examples: Die-Cutting refers to fully cutting through the material, also referred to as “through cut”. Kiss-Cutting refers to only cutting through the substrate but not the liner.

Thermal Die Cutting also known as "Hot Kiss Cutting" pressure sensitive vinyl, with the objective of creating a pre-spaced, ready to apply decal, with no vinyl between the characters. The thermal process is an interesting one. Sheets of vinyl are placed below the heated die and through a combination of heat, dwell, and pressure, the vinyl will be melted or cut. Unwanted material is then weeded away leaving a pre-spaced decal. Application paper is now applied for the final TDC (thermal die cut) Decal. The greatest advantage of thermal die is the intricacy of the cut. The etching process allows us to follow virtually any design that would be impossible with the traditional Steel Rule Die. There are limitations however. Please inquire.
